Education in Zambia is carried out by the Ministry of General Education. It aims to promote full and well-rounded development of the physical, intellectual, social, affective, moral and spiritual qualities of all learners.

87.9% of the people can enrol in primary school. Only 42.9% of the people can enrol in secondary school. Exam at Grade 7 determines whether students can enter secondary education. The transition rates from primary to secondary school is low, at 67.5%. Grade 9 is the end of Junior Secondary education. There is an exam to determine whether they can continue their study.

- There is no secondary school in some regions. Children need to study in "basic school", where they can continue their study up to Grade 9. These basic school charges.
- Public school are far away from community
- Shortage of classrooms and educational resources in rural area
- The allocation of education expenditure by government is not enough to meet the amount of the growing population
- Although government provides subsidies, some students still cannot afford the fee of university
- There are not enough volunteers in community school
